Damoclès

An act in which gender is fluid, feminine and masculine intertwined. Betty Beige and Fleur present their version of gender. Their own personal struggles with it, the confusion, the body dysmorphia they both (have) know(n) and the love they found at last. 

Betty and Fleur make a interpretive dance choreography focusing on the duality of femininity and masculinity. They divide the stage in two with a ribbon of tulle, and uses it as a barrier throughout the performance. The two characters see each other and become interested and curious, and find a way to break through the tulle barrier in order to see each other more clearly.

What first might be conceived as a pure love story was turned on its head when the characters switched identity; the feminine character became masculine, and the masculine became feminine, and they helped each other coming out of their shells and embracing their true self.
